In 1992, it played a major role in the publishing of the Oxford Companion to Australian Sport.Īustralian Museums and Galleries Association (AMaGA) is an advocate for museums and galleries their collections and the people who work in them. It holds a biennial conference and publishes a biannual peer reviewed journal, both called Sporting Traditions. The Australian Society for Sports History (ASSH) was established in 1983 to encourage discussion on sport history in Australia through research, publishing, and events such as conferences and workshops. These bodies can assist and advise sporting organisations on how to best manage and preserve their historical legacy.
